  23. Okay, here's the thing.
M&A recently built this 15x15 puz that's kinda unhinged. (Not Prez Trump-level unhinged, but still pretty out there.) Might have U nice test solvers have a look at it over the weekend, and see what U think. It ain't NYTPuz material, becuz it's too … unhinged. Sorta like a Desperate Word Square, but on steroids. Only one double-?? clue, in the whole shootin match, tho.

Anyhoo, don't currently have any regular runtz left in the pen, cuz this 15x15 dealy took all m&y strength & nanoseconds to build. Soo … hope y'all find it … interestin. And thanx, for continuin to humor us unhinged types.

I already had posted this puppy at @RexWorld. But, that's ok. The bottom of this unhinged attempt got a wee bit desperate, for "prime time". Will give it a go again with a different 1-Across entry (and maybe sans-any revealer?) sometime, after M&A gets his nerve back.

  41. Observations, re: Search Party Lacking Humility…

    1. @Teedmn: Thanx. Decided not to submit, due to puzzle 56-A revealer's cocky [tho meant as tongue-in-cheek] attitude. Rex P. woulda burst a blood vessel, if it had made it to the NYT. [PuzEatinSpouse did laugh out loud, when she read 56-A, tho.] M&A has recently got off his can and submitted 3 other NYTPuz candidates, howsomeever.

    2. @r.alph: yep. Yer added interpretation on 56-A is spot on.

    3. No test solver had a clean solve, but each solve was off by only just one stinkin letter. And I thought the solvetimes were superb, btw.

    4. Only 4 themers, so this grid was pretty easy to fill. Even had a chance to slip in some good longer ones, of which 24-D and 62-A were faves, as they are both rigorous spellin tests.

    5. Interestin, that 1-D and 49-D set such unintended but dastardly traps. Was tryin to be tricky with their clues, but the alternative answers hadn't occurred to m&e.

    6. Forgot to put a double-?? clue in there, as had been considerin a possible submission, briefly.

Thanx for takin all that time to solve this non-runt beast -- and so soon after endurin that "Hysteria" giant. Now the future lil runtpuzs will no doubt look mighty cute and cuddly and friendly, to all U nice folks.

@r.alph: Major unchecked letter O flaw? All M&A can say, in his runt's defense is: (O)OF! [Oh … and the usual "No Refunds", of course.]
Looks like from early testsolves that this runt had some tenacious jaws on him, tho. Or, it failed to YIELD, or somesuch.

Thanx, for bein such a faithful, earlybird test solver of the runtz. M&A always knows right away, if there's a possible "major flaw" in each 7x7 dog, due to yer diligence.

And thanx to @r.major-O-flaw.alph, for keepin this site up and barkin. I owe him a handwritten letter of thanx, sometime soon. Interestin stats from him, on the race to 1000 puzs, btw. Tho it still seems like a kinda apples-to-oranges (or pedigree-to-mutt) comparison, it's fun to have it all splatzed out there on the dogdish, to contemplate.

@Tita A from the Rex Parker blog emailed me an idea:

I have been working with Noteworthy Chocolates, a very creative new business near me. A really fun couple who had the brilliant idea to laser engrave messages on chocolate. Very high quality chocolate.

I thought that it would be fun to engrave a puzzle... I chose Will's favorite puzzle...the election day CLINTON/BOBDOLE Schroedinger.
I had them make it up, and I gave it to Will at his ping pong place, saying this would be awesome as prizes for acpt. He loved the idea!

Anyhow, I am at the show with a bunch of small samples. I had wanted to contact you about having M&A do a runtpuz specific to the event.
Because the founder lagged a bit on that, he went ahead and just picked a random puzzle.

look at the pics...these are small, business card sized.
Do you think M&A could create a 6x6 or 5x5, with low enough word count so it would fit?

I assued her that if anyone could do it you could. Perhaps you could work with the company to sell them.
