    I have been asleep for quite a while, apparently. I don't remember how long it has been since I have put forth a new word richly endowed with the letter U.

    But the other day I was reading in the August 2018 issue of Scientific American, page 79, where I came upon a word used for termite mounds in Brazil: MURUNDUS.

    The SciAm article is quite clear about the role of the termites. The link given here is to an older item which isn't so clear about the role of the termites, but the pictures are great:
