re: 5-A x 1-D crossin. Absolutely no refunds. First of all, M&A gave 2 extra minutes, just on account of that "zone of extra challenge" intersection. Secondmost, M&A felt pangs of guilt at the last minute, and decided to also spell out the answer to the admittedly weirdball 1-D, in all caps, within its clue.
5-A does not have Patrick Berry Immunity (yet), I'd grant.
I might fall a bit behind - my WiFi is out at home and it being the weekend, I can't solve from work until Monday. We'll see how computer-savvy my husband and I are...
@Teedmn: Best of luck with yer computer fixes. M&A recently had to transfer all kinds stuff to a newer computer, after updatin said computer's operatin system for several hours. Computers are suuuch labor-savin devices …
I've got a coupla runtpuzs that I suspect may be real biters to solve. But kinda neat funky-new ideas in em. Should I just hang some extra solve-minutes on em, and let em out of the pen? Or do these really tough mothers upset folks a bit too much? They are small … so the suffering is over fairly quickly, even if intense at the time. As always, I try to stick in a couple gimme clues, to give most solvers a semi-fightin chance.
@M&A - If I didn't love (crossword) pain, I wouldn't be doing runts. Of course, a few extra minutes sometimes help to avoid that dreaded "Maximum time exceeded." And there is always the comfort of knowing that the standard refund policy remains in effect. -- BK
@M&A -- Not to be difficult (would I ever?), but the way I read the clue for 8 A seems to point to an answer the exact opposite of what you wanted! I would hold off further discussion until everyone has had a chance to do the puzzle -- or you can simply tell me I am wrong, if that is the case!
@BobK - Oh. yep. U might be right. It was sorta my backwoods way of sayin it, but I can now see how that could be easily misinterpreted. Hmmmm. I'll issue a clearer 8-A clue version, here:

Due to fear of large crowds carryin lit torches, M&A has decided *not* to release two of his experimental "Frankenstein" runtz, back-to-back. (It's times like this that is at least comfortin to have a masked *and* anonymous byline, tho.) Thanx to all the test solvers, who submitted so willingly to experiment #1 -- the bite marks will heal, in time, without needin any stinkin refunds.

Made the following runt for one of our houseguests, who doesn't solve many crosswords, but had previously solved M&A's "Easier Than Snot" runt, a few days ago.
Hope y'all don't mind my hit-and-miss runtpuz delivery schedule for a spell. Haven't made many new runtz, as have been workin on some full-size NYTPuz meat puppies, instead. Verrry distractin.
Here's another well-aged runt, born in 2018. [I looked at one other runt before this one, but I couldn't understand what that first runt was doin … a bad sign.]
OK. Well, startin to look like @r.alph may be otherwise disposed for a while, I guess. I'll go ahead and post this last of 200 posts, and we'll just have to remember to mash the "Load more …" link, at the bottom of the page, for a while.

@M&A -- Not to be difficult (would I ever?), but the way I read the clue for 8 A seems to point to an answer the exact opposite of what you wanted! I would hold off further discussion until everyone has had a chance to do the puzzle -- or you can simply tell me I am wrong, if that is the case!
