  35. Perfectly useless information (or is it?) which I will share with anyone who is interested (which I would have posted on Rex's blog, except that I don't do the Times puzzle any more): I learned a new word from David Levinson Wilk's crossword in my local weekly shopper today: Clue - "Term used to describe a rearrangement of letters in a word or phrase to create its opposite meaning" Answer - ANTIGRAM (Eight letters, so no good for a runt, but still an interesting concept.)

Examples from the puzzle: "on the sly" HONESTLY; "no fair to trees" REFORESTATION; and, "real fun" FUNERAL (well, at least that's seven letters.)

Not that I could offer any examples of my own, but hey!

Welcome @kitschef, to the test solver list. Hope U happen to read this, since U asked …
The titles of the themeless runtpuzs like "Word Kick" don't mean much. M&A just grabs semi-random individual words from here and there in the puz's clues, and glues em together, to get a "very very slightly" relevant puztitle. Seemed sparklier to M&A than merely titling them "Stumpy Stumper #123", and such.

As someone who has long had a certain - let's not say morbid, but rather, respectful - interest in the year-end necrologies put out by various news outlets, or at the Academy Awards, I must note the passing of a great many U's from the Periodic Table of the Elements, with the official adoption of new permanent names for the four newest members:

  101. I don't want to get carried away, but I must post these things when I encounter them:

You might find a couple of candidates for Word of the Day in this excerpt from a blog post from The Nature Conservancy (http://blog.nature.org/science/2016/11/14/largest-mammal-no-scientist-ever-seen-wild-saola-endangered/):

The Annamite Mountains proved to be a biological treasure trove, with other major wildlife discoveries including the bare-faced bulbul, large-antlered muntjac and Annamite striped rabbit. “The saola is the most spectacular chapter of what is a remarkable story,” says Robichaud.

In case of differences chemistry.html is probably the incorrect one. However you might have referred to some element in circles inside a longer answer. The automatic generation won't catch that.
