I posted a list of 5 runtpuzs for @George to solve, as the last comment in the previous block of 200. Would've posted six, except the Blorg wouldn't let me do that, for some reason. Even the Blorg has its pride, I reckon. So, will have to unleash the last "Desperate Word Square" some other time.
Just checked, and two of those five in the list have not been worked, by any test solvers.
Callin a Runtpuz Ceasefire, until a couple of our honored test solvers can re-arm, re-assemble, and re-runtflush. They are currently waaay behind, on runt puzzle solving.

@r.alph - That's no prob at all, just glad you're doin ok, other than busy.
Who & where is this "dude altonrockthrow"? (Hard to be too weird for M&A, in any case.) Coincidentally, I already have the following Near-Runt ready to roll, which might thrill the dude at least a smidge...
p.s. Pretty easy solve, so even crucibankrupt folks (yo, @Trump) might be able to time-manage it in. Hope @George is ok, too. Totally not necessary for him to ever catchup all the way, either; we are a low-pressure puzzle institution, here. Somethin to help all runt solvers get their nerve back. And to provide some interim entertainment, until the next Trump Video Collection offerin, or the next Russian-hacked (but they swear not altered) email …
p.s. Not quite sure if the test solvers are discovering how the runt puzzle's "leader" is hidden in "Who's Our Leader". Maybe puzzle should have included the word "hidden" in the revealer's clue?
Indeed, when asked for further analysis, the genius of M&A becomes obvious, but I sure missed it first time around! This runt metamorphoses from an easy puzzle with a strange content to a true marvel of construction!
Veeery interestin… I wonder what the best way woulda been to go, on that "Who's Our Leader?" runtpuz. I had figured the title had a pretty good chance of givin the "meta" hidden name away … but, no dice.
Some alternate approaches…?: * Call the runt "Who's Our Leader in Hiding?" * Re-tool the 14-D clue, to say {Org. that's a hint to a hidden leader, linked to the circled letters in this runt puzzle?}. Or somesuch. * Just tell solvers there's a hidden name meta puzzle to be solved.

Word Wallower http://puzzlecrowd.com:8080/CrowdSource/GetSolution?id=NDUzNTU2ODM2MTI0NjM3MA
George has asked me to upload an 11 x 11 puzzle that he released to people with email addresses on Nov 3. If you don't have an email address that he knows perhaps you could take a look at it.
@BobK. har. Well, the headline act names at "Groovin the Moo" kinda speak for themselves. Tough 45rpm record finds, I'd reckon. Dyin to hear a Wolfmother tune. The Naked and the Famous might make for a good music video, also. Shoot, almost every one of them acts sounds like a good title for a Stumpy Stumper runt.
@BG1 asked recently what was different about a "Near Runtpuz". Biggest difference in theory, is that it is easier. Other usual differences: * No weird runtpuz tricks, such a runt-rolls, circled add-on letters, or double-?? clues. * More black squares; usually about twice as many as a runtpuz. That way, M&A gets to cook up cooler grid patterns. * No theme. * Limited use of "scoreboard" abbreviations. * Always has #1001.
They're still usually the same size as regular runtz, tho.
p.s. There will be a M&A Runtpuz Truce for about a week or so, due to a holiday road trip. But after endurin the above runtpuz, there will likely be few objections to this lull. Enjoy! Thanx.
@r.alph: day-um. BEQ is up to puz #906 already. I think I'm still stuck back in the 700's somewhere. The runtz are restless; does publishin some "best of" puzs count? If only @BG1 and @muse would come to M&A's aid, with some extra [always primo] runtz …
what a b-day and Christmas present [at about the same time] that would be … !
@r.alph: Thanx for the update. So … M&A would need 225 more, before BEQ's 94 more. Might conceivably make it, on original-runt-sized runtz. Anyhoo, it could be an excitin finish -- what more could folks ask? [Please, no wagerin.]
Would hesitate to escalate the downsizin strategy U mentioned any more; BEQ might retaliate, and start makin 11x11 grids, or somesuch. (Actually, full disclosure: I've done a few "Near-Runtz" that kinda already snuck a lil ease-of-construction factor into the runtmix. har.)
A lil M&A recordbook housekeepin has revealed a windfall of unpublished, mummified runtz that were born without notice at various times during the current millennium. What a day-um relief.
So … I should be able to unleash these houndlets now and then, under perhaps a "Worst of .." category banner. Fear not: M&A promises to mix in several "fresher" offerings, too boot.

@BG1 asked recently what was different about a "Near Runtpuz".
ReplyDeleteBiggest difference in theory, is that it is easier.
Other usual differences:
* No weird runtpuz tricks, such a runt-rolls, circled add-on letters, or double-?? clues.
* More black squares; usually about twice as many as a runtpuz. That way, M&A gets to cook up cooler grid patterns.
* No theme.
* Limited use of "scoreboard" abbreviations.
* Always has #1001.
They're still usually the same size as regular runtz, tho.
Hope that helps.
