@M&A I added web security to the site and it broke it. I have been on the phone with tech support and they are working on it. No data has been lost. You can access the site using http://192.169.236.33:8080/CrowdSource/GetPuzzle instead of http://puzzlecrowd.com/CrowdSource/GetPuzzle but upload doesn't work. I am optimistic that if they disable the firewall the site will start working.

My workaround until I get somebody at Godaddy to tell me what went wrong with my adding security is to replace any occurrence of puzzlecrowd.com:8080 with 192.169.236.33:8080. For some reason the IP address is not getting blocked but the domain name is. I will get your upload program working on Monday.

@Bob. I should have mentioned that you click on Options on the page that shows the actual puzzle. The Options button that shows on the first page displayed has a bug in it. Sorry.

You will still see the Not Secure warning in some browsers. That is because I haven't paid for an SSL certificate. The security hassle that I have gone thru was to have godaddy scan the site for malware.

I have updated the runt corpus. There are now 1,488 runts, 14,950 answers (an increase of 1,394 since the last update) and 505 two letter words (an increase of 11 since the last update). Overall an amazing show of creativity and free time.
yep. M&A figured that "Loosey Goosey Ways" mighta been a little too loosey-goosey -- both theme-wise and clue-wise. What test solvers need now is somethin better, to get their runtpuz nerve back…

Thanks for your mention of me in today's comments at Rex. No, I will not be a regular there. As I have said to others, when the wind blows a copy of the NY Times my way, I do the puzzle. On those rare days when I get the paper on the publication date, I consider commenting, but only if I actually have something to say. Today met those criteria.
Most of the time, Loren Muse Smith has said everything worth saying, and others have repeated everything else many times, long before my alarm even goes off, so there is no reason for me to bother.
And today, out of practice, and taken aback by the requirement to prove that I am not a robot, I forgot to check the box to see further comments, and only saw your remarks in a late-night (for me!) re-visit to the site.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your mention of me in today's comments at Rex. No, I will not be a regular there. As I have said to others, when the wind blows a copy of the NY Times my way, I do the puzzle. On those rare days when I get the paper on the publication date, I consider commenting, but only if I actually have something to say. Today met those criteria.
Most of the time, Loren Muse Smith has said everything worth saying, and others have repeated everything else many times, long before my alarm even goes off, so there is no reason for me to bother.
And today, out of practice, and taken aback by the requirement to prove that I am not a robot, I forgot to check the box to see further comments, and only saw your remarks in a late-night (for me!) re-visit to the site.
Definitely a biter runt. Get yer rabies shot, before attempting...
